Mary started this site in 2003, it's full of free patterns for sewing, crocheting and knitting etc. She has done such an awesome amount of work keeping this up, I have a hard time just remembering 2003.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteIts Mary.
Thank you for the kind words.
I started this site when I could not go into public due to severe chemical sensitivities. I had a lot of time on my hands, And I am a little obsessive. OK a lot obsessive. It kinda seems like I was trying to find every free pattern out there.
Actually, I don't really sew much. I mend a lot. Eight years without going shopping for clothes, makes for a lot of mending.
I usually laughed when people would ask me how to sew something. I have a page on how to do various things because I needed to figure something out.
I have to wear 100% cotton or my skin burns. Coats don't come in 100% cotton, so I bought a pattern and sewed my own. I made my own pot holders, bathroom rugs, a few shirts and a bathing suit. They don't make cotton bathing suits now either. Oh, and I made cotton underwear and undershirts too. No such thing as a cotton Bra. Plus they don't come in my size. I could not shop so I bought organic 100% cotton fabric on-line.
Jeans almost never come in 100% cotton, but I was never brave enough to sew pants. My husband did all my clothes shopping. I told him to get pants from the men's department. They have 100% cotton over on that side of the store.
Cotton fabric is hard to find as well. Most cotton fabric is quilt weight and very stiff. Organic fabric is hard to find as well, but I did find a few sites the specialized in that. Most of those stores are closed now.
Anyway, I kept running into free patterns when I was hunting for a pattern to purchase. I kept bookmarking those sites. I thought, I think others would appreciate free patters.
I used to have a guestbook, and read all the nice things people would say. But a while ago angelfire deleted all guestbooks. That was disappointing.
I was free of most of my allergies in 2009 with a special treatment, but in 2014, I got a very bad headaches and it went on for 2 months. They found out I had a mastoid infection. Unfortunately, Tylenol is toxic and I ended up in the hospital. I am still recovering, which is why you have not seen a new pattern, and why there has to be tons of broken links.
I think that is why I am writing this is to apologize for not tending to my site. I also have 1 more site. It is about chemical sensitivities. I wrote site to help people find no toxic cleaners and personal care products.
I you have this problem, I think I link to it on my about me page.
I am wordy, sorry about that.
Now back to you regular scheduled programing.
Mary
